Scriba Traduções has been organizing courses on subtitling, within traditional models and via distance learning systems (in partnership with Aulavox).

The most complete subtitling course, taught by Carolina Alfaro de Carvalho, comprises 36 hours of class in a computer lab, including subtitling techniques and practice for cinema, DVD and TV. Training is carried out with subtitling software Subtitle Workshop. The goal is to enable translators to cater for the high demand for professionals in this ever-growing field.
This course was given in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2007, 2008, and 2009, and in São Paulo, Brazil, in 2009 and 2010. These classes are taught in Portuguese and intended for English>Portuguese and Spanish>Portuguese translators.
A compact version of this course has also been taught three times in Spanish in Montevideo, Uruguay, for English>Spanish and Portuguese>Spanish translators.
